Celebrating its 10th year of operations, the Wound Care and Ostomy Program is pleased to have participated in the care of approximately 7,800 patients suffering from chronic wounds. The program offers one-on-one medical care with one goal: to prevent pain, suffering and needless amputation.
The Wound Care and Ostomy Program continues to provide the most advanced wound care therapies for the management of nonhealing wounds caused by edema, restricted blood flow, pressure, trauma, burns, infection, surgery and diabetes.
The Outpatient Wound Care Clinic is located at the Bon Secours Hospital Campus. Convenient parking is available at the 7th Avenue entrance with specific areas designated. Our clinic, located within the hospital, enables timely evaluation of laboratory, radiology and vascular evaluation.
Services have expanded to include hyperbaric oxygen therapy, which combined with advanced wound care treatments, will add to our continued successful healing of patients' chronic wounds. Hyperoxygenation of wound tissue can promote and accelerate wound healing.
Hyperbaric therapy, under the supervision of George Zlupko, M.D., is offered at Altoona Hospital Campus through two state-of-the-art total body chambers
At the Wound Care and Ostomy Program, we are proud of the expertise of our physicians and nurses. All of our nurses are wound specialists, with most
certified based on experience and testing by the American Academy of Wound Management.
