Medical Services: Wound Care and Ostomy Program
The Wound Care and Ostomy Program offers one-on-one medical care with one goal: To heal the wound preventing pain, suffering and needless amputation.
The Wound Care and Ostomy Program continues to provide the most advanced wound care therapies for the management of nonhealing wounds caused by edema, restricted blood flow, pressure, trauma, burns, infection, surgery and diabetes.
The Outpatient Wound Care Clinic is located in the G Building at the UPMC Altoona Hospital Campus. Convenient parking is available at the 7th Avenue entrance with specific areas designated, look for entrance on Howard Avenue. Our clinic enables timely evaluation of laboratory, radiology and vascular evaluation.
Services include hyperbaric oxygen therapy, which combined with advanced wound care treatments, will add to our continued successful healing of patients' chronic wounds. Hyperoxygenation of wound tissue can promote and accelerate wound healing.
Hyperbaric therapy is offered through two state-of-the-art total body chambers
At the Wound Care and Ostomy Program, we are proud of the expertise of our physicians and nurses. All of our nurses are wound specialists or certified wound specialists based on experience and testing by the American Academy of Wound Management.
