Advanced Trauma Care for Nurses (ATCN) Course
- ATCN is taught concurrently with the Advanced Trauma Life Support (ATLS) course for physicians. ATCN was developed to teach established standards of care and practical life-saving skills. Advanced trauma course is designed for nurses that are working in the Emergency Department, Intensive Care Unit, Medical-Surgical Floor, or the Operating Room who wish to increase their knowledge and practical skills in managing the multiple injured trauma patient. Advanced Trauma Life Support (ATLS) Course
- Provides a framework for the management of the traumatized patient. ATLS is intended to allow the single doctor in a rural hospital to effectively assess and manage multiple trauma. The course utilizes didactic lectures and practical skill stations in order to effectively teach the principles of rapid, effective assessment and stabilization. All courses are conducted according to the guidelines of the American College of Surgeons. Target audience: physicians. To register, call (814) 889-6098. 2012 Dates: March 15 and 16, October 4 and 5.
Trauma Nurse Course
- Provides the registered nurse with a basic overview of trauma nursing care. Target audience: Registered nurses who care for trauma patients. To register, (814) 889-6098. 2012 Dates: March 26 and 27, April 2 and 3, September 17, 18, 24 and 25.
- Biannual gathering of nurses, physicians, caseworkers, pre hospital providers and anyone who provides care to trauma patients. The symposium allows for continuing education on new and updated didactic and procedures to maintain high quality of care to your trauma patient. For more information, call (814) 889-2794.
