The Altoona Regional Health System Trauma Center is one of 27 fully accredited trauma centers in Pennsylvania. Granted this distinction by the Pennsylvania Trauma Systems Foundation, Altoona Regional's Trauma Center has a record of excellence in the treatment of trauma patients in West Central Pennsylvania. Lifesaving care is now available minutes closer than Johnstown, Danville and Hershey for trauma patients in 20 counties. | ||||||

Fully-staffed 24/7 with board-certified trauma surgeons and a team of experienced professionals, life-saving surgery is available within minutes of arrival. Patients are cared for in four state-of-the-art trauma bays that can handle six critically injured patients simultaneously. The board-certified trauma surgeons are supported by the health system's experienced emergency medicine physicians, trauma orthopedic surgeons, trauma neurosurgeons and many other trauma trained professionals. This team works together to deliver more help and more hope to trauma patients and families.

As part of the trauma center designation Altoona Regional is involved in trauma prevention, outreach and education for health professionals and interested community members. There are several outreach programs the trauma center offers for the local community. |
