Center for Cancer Care: Surgical Support
Surgery is often a viable treatment option for many people diagnosed with cancer. Surgery used alone or in combination with radiation or chemotherapy may also be part of the treatment plan created by the oncologist.
Before surgery, we can perform a number of tests and views of our patients' cancer so we know exactly what to treat. These tests include sophisticated technology such as magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) and computed axial tomography imaging (CAT) scans. We are also proud to offer the cutting-edge technology of PET/CT, an imaging procedure that provides information about the body's chemistry, cell function and exact location of disease. PET/CT allows physicians to look at both biologic activity and anatomic findings.
Altoona Regional has 15 full-time operating rooms, a cystoscopy room and a nearby Surgery Center. We have a large number of affiliated surgeons with decades of experience in a variety of specialties. Our Center for Cancer Care offers you a complete range of surgical services close to home.
