Center for Cancer Care: Radiation Oncology
Altoona Regional's Center for Cancer Care continues its long tradition of innovation with the addition of the Elekta Synergy® S linear accelerator with VMAT (volumetric modulated arc therapy)   a revolutionary radiation treatment technology that is unique in its ability to target and kill tumors.

The Elekta Synergy® S linear accelerator allows your oncologist to track tumor movement, growth or shrinkage - on a daily basis - and instantly account for variations. The result is meticulous tumor localization prior to treatment.

Then, the Elekta Synergy® S uses highly advanced VMAT (Volume Modulated Arc Therapy) technology to lock-on to the tumor and deliver radiation precisely and quickly, protecting healthy surrounding tissue.

And the best part is that all of this — accurate localization and fast, precise treatment — takes only about 10 minutes.
