Bariatric Surgery Center Altoona Regional
Paula is responsible for developing and implementing policies and procedures that ensure optimal care of our bariatric patients. Paula provides educational materials to patients, staff and physicians that will encourage ongoing learning of new trends and treatment. She organizes and oversees the monthly Bariatric Support Group meetings at Altoona Regional. Paula ensures that accommodations for the obese population are provided throughout the hospital. |

Mike is the physician assistant for Dr. Newlin. He assists Dr. Newlin during surgeries, including gastric bypass operations. In addition, you will see him assisting in Dr. Newlin's office and in the hospital during your stay after surgery. Mike can provide you with education and support throughout your entire surgical experience.

Nutrition Services, Altoona Regional
Dona is a clinical dietitian for Nutrition Services. As part of the Bariatric Surgery Center team, she provides nutrition education to help patients achieve their health goals. Dona sees patients preoperatively and postoperatively in the hospital and regularly attends monthly support group meetings.

Psychologist
Behavioral Health Services, Altoona Regional
Mike is a licensed psychologist in the outpatient department of Behavioral Health Services. His role on our team is to conduct psychological evaluations before the bariatric surgery. The evaluation is geared toward ensuring a patient's competency to make the decision about having the surgery and to follow the diet after the surgery. Mike is also available to provide therapy before or after surgery if psychological issues would be involved.
